The Cape Craft & Design Institute (CCDI) was set up in 2001 to promote and grow craft as an economic sector in the Western Cape province of South Africa. A Section 21 not-for-profit company, the CCDI is a joint initiative of the Provincial Government of the Western Cape and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. more

The Product Development Clinic has been established to assist crafters with existing products - to improve the design, finish and presentation of the product, to better understand the specific segment of the market they are targetting, and to access that market. more
The CCDI offers assistance to craft enterprises, to assess the level of their business and to get advice on how to grow and develop it on sound business principles. more
The Craft & Design Centre for Innovation is the first of its kind in South Africa. It is an innovative experiment to facilitate the design and product development process for craft entrepreneurs and designers in the Western Cape. more
The AMTS FabLab (fabrication laboratory) is a collection of commercially available machines and parts linked by software and processes for making things. more
GIFT is a trading initiative of the Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI). It provides an essential link between craft producers and corporate gift buyers, facilitating exchanges between maker and market. more

The exceptional demand in South Africa for handmade corporate gifts have been proven by the latest sales figures released by GIFT, the Cape Craft and Design Institute’s corporate gift warehouse. GIFT started trading in May last year, and performed outstandingly, within 9 months exceeding their sales target of R900, 000 by over 21% in actual sales. more
